Power of the Pen

The Power of the Pen is a multi-platform interactive programme that provides viewers and listeners with stimulating literary and musical entertainment. The programme will be recorded in front of a live audience. Each week two members of the audience are chosen to compose a poem that has to include random words provided by the guests and audience. At the end of the show the audience contributors perform their poems. Easy? Take up the challenge from the comfort of your arm chair and see how you do. The Power of the Pen aims to entertain, inform, inspire and allow viewers to get to know and understand the creative writers and their work through interviews and live performances. Ever wondered how writers want their work to be read out? Now's your chance to be treated to poems, stories or pieces of music that will make you think again about the importance of spoken and written language in all it's forms. Presented by the accomplished writer, performer and Radio broadcaster Mr. Gee (poet in residence for Russell Brand's BBC Radio Two programme and host of The Spoken Word on BBC Radio Four). For the first show recorded we have a great line up including Tony Benn, Leano, Ross Sutherland, David Dimbleby, Alexei Sayle, Members of the Eclectic Arts Network and more surprises on the show.
